Chicano/Latino Culture in Transition
Yolanda Lopez is a talented Chicana visual artist who found her voice and discovered her gallery in the streets of San Francisco's Latino district. She is best known for her seminal piece "The Portrait of the Artist as the Virgin of Guadalupe," the popular print "Who's the Illegal Alien, Pilgrim" and the series "Women's Work is Never Done."

Lopez presents her works as part of several slide show/lectures which include "Connecting Art to Community," and "The Virgin of Guadalupe and her Impact as a Role Model."

Lopez also can present a video "When You Think of Mexico: Images of Mexicans in the Media" in conjunction with her presentation.
